The coastal road, the GI-682, between Tossa-de-Mar or Sant-Feliu-de-Guixols is a particularly scenic drive and takes about 42 minutes not counting stops.

If you are in Tossa de Mar or Sant Feliu de Guixols and want to visit the other town your GPS will likely to tell you to go on the bigger roads inland as these roads are much less windy.

However the coastal road is very pretty. You will have good views of the coast along much of the drive and there are quite a lot of stopping places where you can get out and properly enjoy the views.

There are several Miradors along the way including the Mirador of Tossa de Mar and the Mirador of Sant Feliu de Guixols.

The coast that you will see below is a lovely rugged coast partly covered with trees and the sea is a beautiful mix of deep blue and turqoise.

There are several coves and beaches that you might want to stop at along the way.

Starting at Tossa-de-Mar along the GI-682 after about 3km there is a steep walk down to Cala Bona. At the bottom is a very pretty, rocky narrow inlet.

Further along the GI-682 you will reach the turn off for Cala Pola. You can drive closer to this beach but there is a walk through a camp site to get to the sea.There is a pretty beach with a beach bar and toilets.

About 5kms from Tossa is Cala Giverola. There is a paid parking and lots of facilities as there is a small tourist resort here. This is also a popular stop for the glass-bottomed boats that depart from Tossa-de-Mar.

A little further is Cala Futadera, a pretty beach that is reached at the bottom of a long staircase down from the coastal road. There are no facilities at the beach.

Next is Cala Salionc also called Cala Salions. There is quite a large private residential area behind this beach that you are not allowed to drive through and so it is a reasonable walk to the beach. The beach though is pleasant and has facilities including a restaurant and toilets and showers.

About half way between Tossa-de-Mar and Sant-Feliu-de-Guixols is the Vallpresona beach. This is a pebbly beach without facilities and nudist bathing is allowed here.

A little further along is one of our favourite beaches. Cala Canyet is a small beach with a wonderful series of rocks stepping out to sea and a narrow path has been created along their length allowing you to get great views back over the beach.

Cala Canyet is in a private residential area and you have to either park on the edge of the Gi-682 and walk down (quite a long walk) or pay to enter and park near the beach.

Parking is expensive but if you plan to stay a while worth considering.

Next to the Cala Canyet beach is the Cala Canyarets beach which is less pretty but bigger and has a beach bar.

There are a couple more coves near to Sant-Feliu but access is tricky and the beaches are very pebbly and so of less interested.

Attractions nearby

Tossa de Mar is a wonderful seaside town well worth a visit.

Sant Feliu de Guixols has a good beach and plenty of facilities. As well as the drive to Tossa de Mar be sure to walk along the Cami-de-Ronda footpath to the lovely Sant-Pol beach.
