Cala Canyet is a beautiful rocky cove and beach on the Costa Brava between Tosse de Mar and Sant-Feliu-de-Guixols.

Explore Cala Canyet on the Costa Brava

Spain This Way review: Cala Canyet is one of our favourite beaches on the Costa Brava. Its rocky path is unique and has a real "Game of Thrones" vibe.

Cala Canyet cove

The coast road between Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols is one of the prettiest stretches of coast to follow in the car. The road is very twisty and hugs the coast giving tantalizing glimpses of the coves and beaches below.

About half way along but closer to Sant Feliu is the Cala Canyet cove. It is close to the Rosamar residential area.

There are two ways to reach it. Either park your car in one of the limited parking spots at the edge of the road but from here there is a fairly steep one kilometer walk to the beach.

Alternatively you pay to cross the barrier set up by the Rosamar residents and drive down to the parking which is by the beach. This is expensive, I assume to reduce numbers.

Once at the bottom there is Cala Canyet cove and on the other side of a small rocky headland there is a sandy beach.

The cove is very special. There is a small beach and along its edge the rocky cliff, covered in trees juts out into the clear blue water. From here a string of rocks emerge from the sea.

A narrow path has been built all along the edge of the rocky cliff and over the jutting out rocks. This has involved creating a couple of stone bridges from one rock to the next.

The result is a fabulous little walk from the beach and out on the rocks with the waves crashing around you. Obviously only go out when the waves are small!

When you have finished exploring the rocks you can choose to spend time on the beach here and enjoy the views over the rocks or walk a short way around the headland to another slightly bigger beach.

This beach is not as pretty but it has a beach bar and more room!

The coast has areas of protected posidonia, a species of sea grass which supports diverse marine life and makes this a good area for snorkling.

Behind the cove and the beach the hills rise up and are dotted with lots of villas but not so many as to spoil the area. Rosamar has a restaurant if you decide to stay and eat now you have maybe paid to park.
